Change 'site_url' and 'home' values
Sometimes, it may become necessary to alter these values inside the database. Here's how...
Warning ! phpMyAdmin is a powerful tool. If you are not sure, ask for advice.
Login to phpmyadmin.
Click 'databases'
A list of your databases will appear. Click the one that is your WordPress database.
All the tables in your database will appear.
Click on the small icon indicated. Hovering this icon should show the word 'browse'.
These screens show lots and lots of options.
Find the 'siteurl' option_name. Scroll the page to check the value if needed.
Click the pen icon
When you click the icon on the left, you will see something very similar to this:
Carefully change the information in the 'option_value' field.
You must NOT have a trailing slash on the address !
Once that's done, scroll down again and click the Button marked 'Go'.
You will now be back at a screen you have seen before.
You need to find the 'home' value, so click the tab the arrow is pointing to.
Look down the next page of rows.
If you see the row indicated below, click the pen.
If you do not, scroll back to the top and click that tab again.
Again, check that this value is correct too.
Neither value must have a trailing slash OR end with 'index.php'. If it does, you will break things again.
Click 'Go' to set the value.
That's it :)
